- I think one thing that struck me about the findings was that the racial differences started to emerge early and within that first year following stroke. So to me, that suggests that we need to further study racial differences in that post-acute care or that early recovery period. And this could help us to identify, you know whether or not they're suboptimal access to post-acute care in certain subgroups, because that could be a point where interventions could occur. And so understanding what post-acute care looks like in different racial, ethnic groups I think is really critical for us to think about how we might be able to intervene and put somebody on a better trajectory of long-term outcomes.
