JACKSON, MS, Feb. 23, 2023 — The 45th annual Heart Ball will be held Saturday, February 25th at the Country Club of Jackson. The annual gala is a culmination of the year-round American Heart Association Heart of Jackson campaign, an initiative uniting community leaders to invest and make an impact on improving Hands-Only CPR education, controlling blood pressure, and improving nutrition security. The Metro Jackson Heart Ball marks a moment in time to reflect, honor and celebrate the progress made through the determination, dedication, and passion of all who support the Heart of Jackson.

First Commercial Bank’s Hank Waterer serves as this year’s chair, with Curt Gabardi as co-chair.  We are pleased that Peder Johnson has joined the Heart Ball campaign as the “Open Your Heart” honoree. Each year, the Metro Jackson Heart Ball honors a local survivor of cardiovascular disease or stroke to serve as our Open Your Heart honoree.

WJTV’s Thao Ta will serve as emcee of the event where attendees will enjoy an evening of dining, live music, and a silent and live auction. Live auction items include art by William Dunlap, Richard Ford, William Goodman, Richard Kelso, and a gold and diamond bracelet from Lee Michaels Jewelry.

“We are so grateful to all of our sponsors, our Executive Leadership Team including Chair Hank Waterer, and to our Open Your Heart honoree Peder Johnson for working with us to advance the mission of the American Heart Association here in Jackson,” said American Heart Association Executive Director Jennifer Hopping.

The Heart of Jackson campaign and Metro Jackson Heart Ball support the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, which aims to reduce barriers to health care access and quality. The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focuses on heart and brain health.
