GREENVILLE, SC, Jan. 13, 2023 — The 2023 Upstate Heart Ball will be held Saturday, March 11 at the Greenville Convention Center. The annual gala is a culmination of the year-round American Heart Association Heart of the Upstate campaign, an initiative uniting community leaders to invest and make an impact in the areas of CPR education, controlling blood pressure, improving nutrition security, and fighting the tobacco and vaping crisis. The Heart Ball marks a moment in time to reflect, honor and celebrate the progress made through the determination, dedication and passion of all who support the Heart of the Upstate.
The American Heart Association Upstate board has designated access to care, nutrition security, high blood pressure, and tobacco and vaping as critical issues to address this year to measurably improve health for all people in the community. When it comes to living longer, healthier lives, neighbors can be worlds apart. Despite being just a few miles apart, recent data indicates there is a 16-year life expectancy difference between the 29608 and 29609 zip codes in the Upstate.1
“We are beyond appreciative for the support of our sponsors, volunteers and community for aiding the American Heart Association in the fight for health equity. We come together and unite in our efforts to achieve something bigger than ourselves. We live fierce and fight for all.” said Chanda Mansell, American Heart Association, Upstate board president.
The 2023 Upstate Heart Ball is sponsored by T&S Brass. This year’s special honorees Dr. Bijal Desai and 3-year-old Jack Weldon, will share their heart stories during this special evening and join patrons at the event, where attendees will enjoy an evening of dining, dancing to Fly Fidelity, and an auction.
"The priority areas of the American Heart Association are vital to better health, locally. Being a part of the Upstate Heart Ball is personal to my family and me, and we urge our community to support this mission. Thank you to the volunteers, sponsors and everyone who supports the Upstate Heart Ball and the Association.” Said Heather Scott, Heart Ball Executive Leadership Team member.
The Heart of the Upstate campaign and the Heart Ball support the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, which aims to reduce barriers to health care access and quality. The American Heart Association is the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health.
