HOUSTON, February 12, 2024 — The 2024 Houston Heart Ball brought hearts together to save lives and strive for equitable health for everyone living in Houston. With more than $1.2 million raised, funds will support the life-saving work of the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke. In addition, local Houston organizations in the public health and food security space will benefit from the funds as they continue to expand their services to create equitable health outcomes throughout the city.
“The AHA in Houston wouldn’t be able to make such a difference in our local community without the generous support of this year’s Heart Ball sponsors and supporters, and we are so grateful for their support,” said Allison Sheeder, Sr. Executive Director of Greater Houston. “Our organization was also so excited to celebrate our community partners who are making such a difference through their contributions in the heart health and food security and nutrition spaces. These honorees embody exceptional care, warmth, and compassion, and the AHA was proud to recognize all of them on Saturday evening.”
The event, which took place on February 10th, was a culmination of the Heart of Houston, an American Heart Association initiative that works to equitably improve and save lives from heart disease and stroke. The Heart Ball marks a special moment in time to reflect, honor and celebrate the progress made through the determination, dedication and passion of all who support the Heart of Houston.
SLB served as the Legacy Sponsor for this year’s event with HCA Houston Healthcare serving as the Together to End Stroke Sponsor. Norton Rose Fulbright, SLB and St. Luke’s Health were all recognized as Second Century Supporters. Other supporters included the Hackett Family, Debbie and Jack B. Moore, and Beverly and Jim Postl.
The 2024 survivor and honoree was Wallis Marsh. He was joined by host of the evening, Khambrel Marshall, and over 500 local guests who enjoyed musical entertainment by the dynamic band Midtown 10.
2024 marks 100 years of scientific discovery and innovation by the American Heart Association. From humble beginnings and with a vision of improving health around the world, the American Heart Association has grown dramatically and is now the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. During this second century of bold action, the Association is committed to advancing health and hope for everyone, everywhere.
Funds raised through Heart of Houston and Heart Ball support the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, which aims to reduce barriers to health care access and quality.
