American Heart Association names Allison Sheeder senior vice president for Greater Houston
HOUSTON, November 14, 2022 — The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit committed to advancing heart and brain health for all, is pleased to announce that Allison Sheeder has been named the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Greater Houston. As SVP, Sheeder will manage a staff committed to raising funds and implementing programs that improve heart health across greater Houston.
In her most recent role as Senior Director of Development at The Salvation Army of Greater Houston, Sheeder and her team were tasked with generating $13 million annually in revenue. Her strategic insight was evident as she successfully redesigned the organization's development structure, emphasizing increased donor cultivation and stewardship. Prior to this, as the Executive Director of Development at the Prison Entrepreneurship Program, Sheeder managed key relationships with top funders, overseeing a revenue responsibility of over $3.3 million. Sheeder has successfully secured substantial gifts ranging from $150,000 to $5 million.
“With a long-standing commitment to philanthropy and strategic leadership, Allison’s background aligns seamlessly with the work of the American Heart Association,” said Amber Baker, Associate Executive Vice President at the American Heart Association. “In her previous roles in the Texas nonprofit space, Allison has generated millions in revenue, showcasing her ability to lead comprehensive development programs. The Houston team is thrilled to have her on board.”
Allison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SMU where she also completed the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training Certification.
“As the American Heart Association kicks off it’s 100th-year celebration this January, Allison will be key in identifying new audiences in the Houston area, spreading our reach as we continue to promote heart health for all,” continued Baker. “The Greater Houston team is fortunate to have Allison at the helm and we look forward to achieving new heights under her guidance.”
