Augusta, GA., December 6, 2023 — As plans are underway for the 2024 CSRA Heart Ball, Ashlee Dureen, publisher of Augusta Magazine and Athens Magazine has been named chairperson of this year’s community-wide campaign. The Heart Ball celebrates progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support the American Heart Association’s Heart of the CSRA, a year-round effort aimed at investing in and saving and improving lives in the local community. Ashlee will lead this local campaign as Chairperson during a monumental year as the American Heart Association celebrates its centennial in 2024.

“I am honored to serve as Chairperson of the 2024 CSRA Heart Ball,” said Duren. “My paternal grandfather died from a heart attack at just 32, and heart disease runs in mine and my husband’s family affecting many more family members. I am eager to work together with our outstanding team of volunteers and the American Heart Association as we all advocate to make a difference in the well-being of people in this community. Together, we must continue to strive to do whatever we can to make a lasting impact on our community’s health and our ability to respond in the event of a cardiovascular emergency. I’m grateful for the American Heart Association’s work in creating a Nation of Lifesavers equipped with the knowledge of CPR, and I look forward to furthering that work through support of the Heart Ball.”

The 2024 CSRA Heart Ball is sponsored by Life is Why Sponsor, Piedmont Augusta, and slated for February 9th, 2024 at Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center. The annual event is a night to celebrate the association’s year-round efforts to drive healthy equity in the CSRA. This year’s campaign is specifically focused on educating the community in lifesaving CPR to ensure more neighbors have the chance to live a full and healthy life. Throughout the evening the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, will honor volunteers and patrons, feature stories of survivors, and entertain guests with dinner, dancing and an auction.

“Ashlee exemplifies true leadership and commitment as a media leader here in the CSRA and is the ideal person to head our Heart Ball campaign in the centennial year of the Association. As a trusted member of this community, she understands the impact the mission and work of the American Heart Association can have on every person who lives in this area. We welcome Ashlee to the Heart of the CSRA, an initiative that centers around better health for every individual by focusing on critical issues and work to equitably improve and save lives,” says Ansley Howze, executive director, American Heart Association, CSRA.
