MINNEAPOLIS, MN, Jan.16, 2024 – Jaimie Mattson, Senior Director of Global Product Marketing at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, will serve as the 2024 Twin Cities Go Red for Women® executive volunteer chair, a movement launched two decades ago to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst to change and improve the lives of women globally. As the American Heart Association celebrates its 100th birthday, Mattson will play a critical role by hosting the Twin Cities Go Red for Women Evening of Empowerment, supporting the Minnesota Woman of Impact campaign, and honoring Go Red’s top supporters.
According to the American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in women, claiming more lives than all cancers combined. Nearly 45% of women over age 20 are living with some form of CVD[1]. Heart disease and stroke continue to be Twin Cities women’s greatest health threat.
“For two decades, Go Red for Women has led initiatives to improve women’s heart health,” said Jaimie Mattson, 2024 Go Red for Women Chair. “Unfortunately, only 55 percent of women realize heart disease is their No. 1 killer and less than half know what are considered healthy levels for cardiovascular risk factors. The Go Red for Women movement works to make sure women know their risks and symptoms so they can take action to protect their health. As we celebrate twenty years of Go Red, I’m looking forward to bringing our community together to advance this lifesaving mission and support women in Minnesota and beyond.”
Attendees of the 2024 Go Red for Women Evening of Empowerment can expect curated bites and networking, followed by a light dinner and an inspiring program that features twenty survivor stories, Women of the Decade awards, and an amazing live auction. Guests will hear from a variety of local leaders as we celebrate our progress on February 22, 2024.
Go Red for Women is a global movement with impact across the United States and in more than 50 countries around the world. Through Go Red for Women, we strive to educate women that heart disease is their leading cause of death and to empower them to be change makers and business leaders, as well as moms, sisters, and partners.
Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and the Twin Cities Go Red for Women Evening of Empowerment is locally sponsored by Medtronic, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, Integer, AtriCure, and many other businesses. For more information visit www.heart.org/MinnesotaGoRed.

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For more than two decades, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
