ST. LOUIS, September 14, 2023 – Two St. Louis-area business leaders have stepped forward to co-chair the 2023-2024 St. Louis Go Red for Women movement, an initiative of the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization devoted to a world of healthier lives for all.
Penny Pennington, Managing Partner at Edward Jones, and Pat Coleman, Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Alberici, will lead the Association’s Go Red for Women campaign locally in an effort to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally, and globally.
“Heart disease impacts so many lives, and it’s one of the pervasive health issues that stands in the way of people experiencing wellbeing and reaching their life goals,” said Pennington. “At Edward Jones, we care deeply about improving people's lives and promoting healthier futures. I’m honored to co-lead Go Red for Women in St. Louis to help more people live healthier, longer lives."
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Cardiovascular disease continues to be a woman’s greatest health threat, taking the life of one in every three women.
“I lost my mom and my sister to heart disease,” said Coleman. “It’s important to me to help to educate women and especially the next generation of women by raising awareness and the funds to eradicate this devastating disease.”
For almost 20 years, Go Red for Women has had a profound impact on women’s health. As the trusted, passionate, and relevant force to eradicate heart disease and stroke, through the Go Red for Women movement, the American Heart Association remains steadfast and committed to meeting the comprehensive health needs of women — at every life stage.
The Go Red for Women movement will be celebrated on May 2, 2024, at the St. Louis Go Red for Women Luncheon.
Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and the St. Louis Go Red for Women Luncheon is locally sponsored by Edward Jones, MTM, Maritz and Alberici. For more information, contact Rosie Schott at Rosie.Schott@heart.org.

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For 19 years, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
