ORLANDO, FL, December 15, 2022 – The American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, announces Kimberly Brown, executive director of Organizational Culture at AdventHealth, as the 2023 Orlando Go Red for Women chair. Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s signature women’s initiative designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally and globally.

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Brown will be joined by other Central Florida executives working to make an impact in the fight against cardiovascular disease, a woman’s greatest health threat.

“The women in our community don’t just need this support, they deserve it. As women, we must take care of ourselves and prioritize our own health amongst the daily demands of life,” said Brown. “For me cardiovascular health hits especially close to home. My oldest was born with congenital heart defects and had open heart surgery. For our family and many of those impacted by a cardiac event or congenital conditions, it’s a lifelong journey of health support and intervention. This is why the work of the American Heart Association is important to me.”

This year, through the Go Red for Women campaign, the American Heart Association will celebrate  local community impact and achievements at the Orlando Go Red for Women Luncheon on Friday, February 24 at the Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando. Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and locally sponsored by AdventHealth.

“We are excited to have Kimberly leading our Go Red for Women campaign,” said LaSonia Landry, executive director of the American Heart Association in Orlando. “As a long-time champion of our mission, we know that she will have a positive impact on the lives of women in our community and the families that depend on them.”

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For 19 years, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
