City Limits Subaru and Toyota of Cedar Park go all in on heart health to create a safer community

AUSTIN, TX, April 22, 2026 — City Limits Subaru and Toyota of Cedar Park are making Austin a community of lifesavers by working with the American Heart Association to educate their team on Hands-Only CPR. Using springtime momentum through American Heart Month (February), this initiative will ensure that the 85 employees of Toyota of Cedar Park and 37 employees of City Limits Subaru will be able to perform Hands-Only CPR if a customer or staff member has a cardiac arrest.

“At City Limits Subaru and Toyota of Cedar Park, we believe being part of this community means showing up in ways that truly matter,” said Rachelle Grossman, marketing & community relations director, Toyota of Cedar Park. “As automotive dealerships, safety is part of our everyday conversation. Partnering with the American Heart Association to offer Hands-Only CPR and defibrillator trainings to our team is a natural extension of that commitment. It’s vital that our employees are able to respond in an emergency. We know this potentially life-saving impact goes far beyond our showroom floor.”

Cardiac arrest remains a leading cause of death worldwide. In the United States alone, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital each year, and nearly 90% are fatal without prompt intervention. Immediate CPR can double or even triple the chance of survival, yet bystanders intervene about 40% of the time, often because they feel unprepared. The American Heart Association is working alongside local businesses like City Limits Subaru and Toyota of Cedar Park to make Austin the safest city in America to have a cardiac arrest.

“This initiative is also deeply personal,” continued Grossman. “We’ve had team members experience heart emergencies while on the job, and those moments stay with us. We want every employee to feel confident stepping in during a critical moment, because being ready can mean the difference between life and loss.”

The goal of the American Heart Association’s Nation of Lifesavers initiative is to turn bystanders into lifesavers so that anyone, anywhere is prepared and empowered to provide CPR during a cardiac emergency. The Association leads global efforts in public awareness, education and policy change, and serves as the scientific authority behind the official CPR and emergency cardiovascular care guidelines used throughout the U.S. and in more than 90 countries worldwide.
