Coachella Valley Heart and Stroke Walk invites participants to reconnect for heart health
PALM SPRINGS, October 18, 2023 —The American Heart Association, the leading voluntary health organization focused on heart and brain health for all, is inviting the Coachella Valley and Desert Communities to its premier event to boost physical and mental health through healthy habits while supporting the lifesaving mission.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, Desert Communities area Heart and Stroke Walk participants and teams are invited to reunite at Civic Center Park in Palm Desert to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise lifesaving funds and encourage physical activity. The event theme is, “I Walk to Save Lives,” and underscore the importance of living a physically active, tobacco-free and healthy lifestyle.
In partnership with generous donors and local company sponsors, the Coachella Valley Heart and Stroke Walk will raise money to fight the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers, heart disease and stroke.
By joining and donating to the Heart and Stroke Walk, participants support the lifesaving mission of the Association and safeguard that fewer people die from heart disease and stroke. The funds raised go towards research, advocacy, CPR training and to promote better health in support of the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, reducing barriers to health care access and quality.
“The Heart and Walk is such a special day for the Coachella Valley and broader Desert Communities,” said Teresa Hodgkins PharmD, VP Clinical Quality Initiatives, Desert Oasis Healthcare. “One of my favorite things about the Heart and Stroke Walk is that it truly is an event for everyone. It encourages people from all backgrounds to live a heart healthy lifestyle.”
The day features activations centered on mindfulness, CPR demonstrations, and tents dedicated to overall community engagement. Additionally, there will be a moving passion speaker and an energizing warm-up. The Coachella Valley Heart and Stroke Walk will be emceed by NBC’s Manny the Movie Guy and Chloe Carlson.
The Heart and Stroke Walk was made possible with the support of our Life is Why Sponsor Desert Oasis Healthcare.
