Dayton, OH, July 16, 2024 — Through a partnership with the American Heart Association, devoted to world of healthier lives for all, Dayton Freight Lines Inc. will make a Mobile Hands-Only CPR Training Kiosk available to thousands of it employees throughout the Midwest.
The Kiosk provides Hands-Only CPR training in five minutes or less. The Kiosk features a touchscreen video program with a brief introduction and overview of Hands-Only CPR, followed by a practice session and a 30-second test. Training can be completed in about five minutes. With the help of a practice manikin (a rubber torso), the Kiosk gives feedback about the depth and rate of compression and proper hand placement.
The Mobile Kiosk will travel across Dayton Freight’s 70 locations, training thousands of employees in the lifesaving skill of CPR. Dayton Freight, the 12th largest LTL carrier in the country, has been a leading sponsor of CPR training initiatives in the Dayton region since launching the first CPR Kiosk, at the University of Dayton, in 2017.
Dayton Freight’s Executive Vice President Mike Cronin said, “Dayton Freight is proud of our longstanding partnership with the American Heart Association. For many years we have sponsored the Dayton Heart Walk, the CPR Kiosk at the University of Dayton, and now the mobile CPR Kiosk. With our expertise in shipping, we are excited to shift our focus internally to educate our employees, their families and our customers all throughout our Midwest service area. Additionally, several of our facilities are equipped with AED machines. Should a cardiac arrest occur, it’s our goal for employees to be trained and prepared to help – at work, at home or in the community!”
An unveiling ceremony was held at Dayton Freight’s headquarters on July 16, 2024 at 10:00 am.
The American Heart Association has a goal of training one member of every household in CPR. Every year more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital, and more than 20% occur in public places like airports, casinos, and supporting facilities. Quick bystander CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.
“We know that when emergencies happen people want to help, and Hands-Only CPR gives people that ability to make a difference.” Said Stephanie Yenn, the Executive Director of the American Heart Association in Dayton. “This kiosk empowers people to save lives.”
