Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez joins Connecticut Board of Directors

HARTFORD, CT August 7, 2023 — - The American Heart Association is excited to welcome Leslie Torres-Rodriguez, Ed.D as a member to the Connecticut Board of Directors. In her role, Dr. Torres-Rodriguez will help the association in building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, through oversight of local revenue generation and health impact activities. The American Heart Association is the world's leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Torres-Rodriguez is the Superintendent, Hartford Public Schools, with a primary duty as Chief Executive Officer for the State’s Capital district of 16,800 students.

As a member of the regional board of directors, Dr. Torres-Rodriguez will help to drive strategies to create a healthier Connecticut for all. Together, board members will work to address important issues facing the Connecticut community, including tackling the youth vaping epidemic, increasing access to affordable and healthy food, addressing hypertension, and ensuring residents live in a healthy environment that supports physical and mental being.

“Living and working in Greater Hartford, I understand the need to create healthier communities, especially for the most vulnerable,” said Dr. Torres-Rodriguez. "I look forward to working with American Heart Association Connecticut board members to create change and provide quality healthcare for all.”
