SYRACUSE, NY, October 13, 2022 — Nearly 400 people rocked their red and celebrated the strength of women in the fight against heart disease on Thursday. The Syracuse Go Red for Women Luncheon encouraged attendees to “Reclaim Your Rhythm” and be a relentless force for longer, healthier lives.
The Go Red for Women® Luncheon, held at the Oncenter Convention Center, is the culmination of the year-round Go Red movement. The event, along with year-round activities, raised a total of more than $300,000.
“Now is the time to Reclaim Your Rhythm and take back control of your physical health and mental well-being,” said Jackie Ferrari, Go Red for Women chairwoman and founder and CEO of American Fashion Network. “One in three women are dying of cardiovascular disease, but losing even one woman is too many”
The afternoon’s keynote speaker was Syracuse University Women’s Basketball Coach Felisha Legette-Jack. She shared a personal story about the impact of heart disease and encouraged everyone to take action for their own health and the health of their loved ones.
Amy Robbins, of 93Q, and Lisa Spitz, of CNY Central, served as the emcees. They, and other speakers, shared lifesaving information about women’s health, and the impact the Go Red for Women movement is making.
Since 2004, Go Red for Women has had a profound impact on women’s health. As the trusted, passionate, and relevant force to eradicate heart disease and stroke, through the Go Red for Women movement, the American Heart Association remains steadfast and committed to meeting the comprehensive health needs of women — at every life stage.
The Go Red for Women movement is designed to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death for women in the United States, as well as generate funds for lifesaving cardiovascular research for women.
Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and locally sponsored by St. Joseph’s Health, American Fashion Network, Kinney Drugs Foundation, National Grid, and media sponsors 93Q, Eagle Newspapers, NBC3/CBS5/CW6/CNYCentral.com, and Syracuse Woman Magazine.

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For 18 years, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
