LAS VEGAS, August 15, 2023 — Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in Las Vegas. Jackie Van Blaricum, President of HCA Healthcare Far West Division, headquartered in Henderson, is working hand-in-hand with the American Heart Association to change that. Van Blaricum will serve as chairperson for the November 2023 Las Vegas Heart Walk, a community campaign focused on engaging local companies, corporations and their employees to join the fight against heart disease and stroke.

“I am honored to serve as chairperson of the 2023 Las Vegas Heart Walk,” says Van Blaricum. “These efforts to eliminate heart disease and stroke are near and dear to my own heart. My own family members have had heart and stroke issues and our physicians and care teams are partnering with the AHA here in Las Vegas and across the country to improve heart and stroke care for everyone. I am excited to encourage our colleagues, neighbors, family and friends to join a team and have fun, all in the name of stronger, healthier hearts. Together, we can fund lifesaving research.”

“We are incredibly grateful for Jackie stepping up to move the needle when it comes to heart disease and stroke,” says Debbie Smith, executive director of development and community health, American Heart Association, Nevada. “Through the Las Vegas Heart Walk, we are able to drive maximum impact through employee engagement and corporate fundraising. Together, we can save lives right here in Las Vegas.”
