Statement from the American Heart Association regarding the Passage of Medicaid Expansion by North Carolina Legislators
RALEIGH, NC, March 23, 2023 – American Heart Association North Carolina Government Relations Director Sarah Jacobson released the following statement upon the North Carolina Legislature’s passage of Medicaid expansion:
“Today signifies the culmination of years of hard work by advocates, legislators, and so many others to build a heathier North Carolina. The North Carolina House and Senate have recognized the time has come to expand Medicaid.
“As we await Governor Cooper’s signature, we remain optimistic that health coverage will soon be accessible to hundreds of thousands in our state who have fallen into the coverage gap.
“We will continue to advocate for the passage of the final state budget to ensure that Medicaid expansion is implemented as quickly as possible, so we can provide adequate, accessible health insurance to our friends and neighbors.”
