FORT WORTH, Texas, May 1, 2023 — As plans are underway for Tarrant County’s CycleNation, professional healthcare marketer, business developer and member of the Heart Challenge Executive Leadership Team, Kendal Cathey has been named the chairperson of this year’s community-wide event. CycleNation is an annual celebratory stationary bike event that empowers our community to champion survivors and spreads awareness all while funding vital research to eradicate stroke and heart disease.

“What’s exciting about the CycleNation movement is, it’s not just a one-day event,” said Kendal Cathey. “Participating companies and organizations become part of something bigger. “Encompass Health has a front row seat to the devastating effects of stroke. We knew we needed to stand up and do our part to help end that cycle. The American Heart Association has provided that platform to raise funds and awareness through its event, CycleNation and we are honored to partner with them.”

Working as the Medical Center Business Development Director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospitals of DFW, Cathey has twenty years of accomplished healthcare marketing and business development experience. She originally started her healthcare marketing career with Encompass Health’s outpatient rehabilitation locations in Fort Worth and Arlington in 2003. Cathey grew up in Amarillo and moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 2002. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications. She is married and has four beautiful children.

Corrie Harris, Executive Director at the American Heart Association in Tarrant County, said, “We are thrilled to have Kendal Cathey join our Heart Challenge Executive Leadership Team as the 2023 CycleNation Chair. Her passion for our mission is a catalyst for the success of this year’s CycleNation event. With Kendal's leadership, we are making a significant impact on the overall health of our community by inspiring employee engagement, wellness, and overall workplace health.”

The 2023 Tarrant County CycleNation event and happy hour will be held on May 18, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Texas Live!. Fort Worth and surrounding communities that join the American Heart Association’s CycleNation campaign are a part of a relentless team across the country stopping the cycle of stroke and heart disease.
