LOS ANGELES, February 6, 2024 — Torrid has made a commitment to support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission over the next three years through Life is Why™, the Association’s cause marketing campaign that inspires consumers to honor their reasons for living healthier, longer lives — by giving.

Throughout Heart Month in February, customers who visit Torrid will have the opportunity to make a donation or round up their purchase at the register in stores across the U.S. or online. Torrid’s goal is to raise $500,000 for the American Heart Association each year in February.

“Torrid is a company built on a foundation of inclusion, and we advocate for all people – that’s why it was so important for us to support an organization who shares our belief that all people deserve equitable health care,” said Elizabeth Haynes, Board Chairperson for the Torrid Foundation. “We have a diverse community of customers, employees, and supporters, but we recognize that the majority are women. Unfortunately, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the US and can affect them at any age. Our relationship with the American Heart Association is special because we get to help support women’s health and well-being at every stage of their lives.”

“For 100 years, the American Heart Association has saved and improved countless lives by funding scientific discoveries, setting the standards for quality cardiovascular health care, advocating for healthy public policies and more,” said Paul Watkins, Board Chairman, American Heart Association Los Angeles. “Torrid’s support will help propel our work of advancing health and hope for everyone, everywhere into our second century.”

Donations through the Life is Why campaign supports the Association’s work, including:

  • Supporting women’s health and well-being at every age, stage and season of their lives by closing the gaps in education, resources and research funding on women and cardiovascular disease
  • Investing in the work of local entrepreneurs and organizations focused on dismantling barriers to health and improving health and well-being in under-resourced communities
  • Providing individuals and families science-based tools and resources aimed at improving mental well-being
  • Advocating for policies that drive equitable health and well-being for all
  • Training more than 2.5 million high school students in lifesaving CPR annually
