Wayne County, OH March 29, 2024 – Scott Boyes, chief financial officer & chief operating officer at Wooster Community Hospital and Adam Briggs, investment advisor, Briggs & Starr are chairing the American Heart Association’s 2024 Wayne County Heart Walk, an event that draws more than five hundred community members and aims to raise 260-thousand dollars to fight heart disease and stroke.
“I am honored to serve as co- chair of this year’s Heart Walk,” said Scott Boyes. “A major component of Wooster Community Hospital’s mission is to provide quality healthcare to all people and to promote community wellness. Helping the American Heart Association to advance research to save lives and providing community education on prevention and detection for both heart attacks and strokes is very much aligned with the hospital’s mission.”
The Heart Walk is designed to create a stronger community among participants, instill a passion for reducing disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke, and generate excitement for a new or renewed commitment to heart-healthy living through physical activity and healthy eating.
“The work of the American Heart Association is critical to the health of our community,” said Adam Briggs. “Funds raised during the Heart Walk will advance education and research that will directly affect the health of Wayne County residents.
“We are excited and honored that Scott and Adam are co-chairing the Wayne County Heart Walk this year,” said Lisa Wheeler-Cooper, American Heart Association executive director, Northeast Ohio. “With their leadership, we will help create a greater awareness of our No. 1 health threat, heart disease, and motivate Wayne County residents to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle.”
The 2024 Wayne County Heart Walk will be held on Thursday, September 19th at Kinney Fields (Oldman & Burbank Rd.) in Wooster. The walk kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with a Healthy for Good Festival, including health screenings, Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, a Kids Zone and more. The walk beings at 5:45 p.m. To register, donate or learn more about the Wayne Heart Walk visit heart.org/wayneheartwalk.
