October 17, 2019 – American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown responds to JUUL's announcement today that it is removing certain flavors from the market:
“JUUL’s announcement is way too little, way too late. For years, the company spent millions of dollars marketing fruit, candy and mint flavors to children, contributing to a skyrocketing rise in youth e-cigarette use and threatening to addict a new generation to nicotine. The company’s efforts have helped make mint and menthol flavors among the most popular among youth, with nearly two-thirds of high school e-cigarette users choosing those flavors. Congress and the administration should move forward without delay to remove all flavored e-cigarettes, including mint and menthol, from the market.”
