February is American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day is Friday February, 6, 2026

DYK: More than 4 in 10 women in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, such as heart disease or stroke — a figure that is only expected to grow. Each year, heart disease and stroke kill more women than all forms of cancer combined.

To help reverse that trend, leading global fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailers joined the American Heart Association volunteers at the New York Stock Exchange to ring the opening bell and sound an alarm — launching the inaugural Go Red. Shop with Heart. campaign to raise funds and awareness of the growing burden of heart disease among our mothers, daughters, sisters and other loved ones.

GO RED in support of women’s cardiovascular health by wearing red, sharing information and resources and donating to support research and education. Visit WearRedDay.org

Cardiac Arrest vs. Heart Attack

Cardiac Arrest vs. Heart Attack

Do you know the difference? (Infographic transcript)

People often use these terms interchangeably,

but they are not the same.

CARDIAC ARREST occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly.

Cardiac arrest is an “ELECTRICAL” problem.

A HEART ATTACK occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked.

A heart attack is a “CIRCULATION” problem.

What you need to know:

  • It’s important to catch them early and call 9-1-1 for help.
  • The sooner medical treatment begins, the better the chances of survival and preventing heart damage.
