NILES, OH (October 24, 2024) — The American Heart Association’s 2024 Heart of Tri-County campaign, which was capped off last week with the Tri-County Heart Ball, set a fundraising record during its centennial year.

The overall initiative raised nearly $314,000 – the most ever – to advance the American Heart Association’s mission of being a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

The fundraising total combines the Northeast Ohio Golf Classic, which raised almost $40,000 in June at the Youngstown Country Club, with the sold-out Tri-County Heart Ball, which saw record attendance on Oct. 17 and brought in nearly $275,000.

“We are so proud to be part of a community that unites for such a powerful cause,” said Joe Salmon, Chair of the Northeast Ohio Golf Classic and Vice President, Manager of Card Services at First National Bank. “Together, we are saving lives.”

“Heart disease does not discriminate. It can affect people of any age, anywhere,” added Christina Dascenzo, co-chair of the 2024 Heart of Tri-County campaign and pharmacist with Family Drug Columbiana and Village Pharmacies. “The historic funds raised from this campaign will go toward transforming the health of people right here in our Valley and protecting them from their No. 1 health threat.”

The money raised through the 2024 Heart of Tri-County campaign will fund the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association as it celebrates 100 years of service. The funds will help drive bold breakthroughs in science, policy and care as the organization now enters its second century.
