TYLER, Texas, June 12, 2023 — Dr. David Dick, a cardiologist who has provided care to East Texas residents for nearly 35 years, has been selected as the first Tyler Physicians with Heart honoree by the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all.

American Heart Association Development Director Nicolette Billups describes Tyler Physicians with Heart as a year-long initiative to recognize medical providers in Tyler who exemplify integrity, passion and commitment to improving the heart health of our community. Dick, a partner with Tyler Cardiovascular Consultants, will be lauded at the Tyler Heart Ball, slated for Feb. 17, 2024. Two additional honorees will be named in September and December.

Dick was nominated by several medical professionals with whom he works, including one of his colleagues, Dr. Frank I. Navetta.

“He introduced interventional cardiology to the treatment and management of peripheral vascular disease and was instrumental in introducing new technologies such as excimer laser coronary angioplasty,” said Navetta. “Over the past three decades he has treated countless east Texans with expertise, clinical skill, compassion and an enduring human connection.”

Dick started in Tyler in 1988 as a solo practitioner after completing his fellowship in cardiology at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. In 1991, Dick joined Tyler Cardiovascular Consultants as its fifth member.
