LONG ISLAND, N.Y., June 25, 2024 — The American Heart Association is proud to announce the leadership for the 2024 Long Island Heart Walk, taking place on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Jones Beach Field 5, Wantagh, NY. This year's centennial co-chairs are Randy DeYulio, Managing Partner at Deloitte, and Pete Tawadros, Vice President, Global Financial Planning, Treasury and Analysis at Henry Schein.
Cardiovascular disease, including stroke, remains the number one cause of death on Long Island. For 100 years now, the American Heart Association has made a profound impact through bold moves to combat this critical issue. The Association has long recognized that we are all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way, and we must change that. With community support, we can continue working to ensure everyone can enjoy longer, healthier lives.
DeYulio expressed his enthusiasm for co-chairing the event, stating, "I am honored to be a part of this important event, especially during the centennial year of the American Heart Association. The Heart Walk is an initiative that brings our community together to fight heart disease and stroke, and I am excited to see the positive impact we can make together and individually."
Tawadros added, "As we mark 100 years of the American Heart Association's dedication to saving lives, it's more important than ever to continue this mission. By participating in the Heart Walk, we are taking significant steps towards advancing medical research, improving health education and promoting healthier communities."
By registering for the Heart Walk today, participants are taking the first step to save lives. Every walker who joins and every dollar donated means more research, more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more medical breakthroughs and more champions for equitable health.
