CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Nov. 18, 2024 – Volunteer leaders and honorees driving the success of the American Heart Association’s Corpus Christi Heart Ball were introduced at a kickoff reception Nov. 13 at the home of the Laurie and Dr. Michael Mintz.
The crowd of about 70 people included past and present Heart Ball supporters, members of the 2025 Corpus Christi Heart Ball planning committee and members of the local board of directors. They enjoyed hors d'oeuvres while mingling around the Mintz’s pool overlooking Corpus Christi Bay.
The affair provided a first look at the ball’s theme, “Into the Future – a Second Century Celebration,” and an opportunity to meet the events stars: Open Your Heart co-chairpersons Cathy and Bill Lathrop Jr., heart ball survivor, Ally Babineaux, business honorees Karen and Larry Urban and medical honorees Drs. Osbert and Nelly Garcia Blow.
The 2025 Heart of Corpus Christi Heart Ball is slated for Feb. 22 at the American Bank Center. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, games, an auction, dinner and dancing, said development director Amy Snell Canterbury.
Co-chairpersons are Dolly and Dr. Greg Trolley and Michelle and Philip Ramirez. Dolly Trolly said the 2025 theme shines a spotlight on how the American Heart Association is harnessing the power of technology to support heart health in fun and innovative ways.
“But more importantly, your support makes our community a healthier, safer place to call home,” she said.
Philip Ramirez spoke on his and his wife’s behalf.
“Michelle and I are privileged to be leading this important campaign, and we look forward to inspiring and creating meaningful change in our community,” he said.
In addition to being honorees, the Blows are also members of the Corpus Christi Board of Directors. Others on the local board who attended were chairman Rajan Ahuja, LaNell Scott, Liz Matthews, Laura Commons, Terry Schade, Patty Clark and Michelle Lozano.
