BOSTON, May 6, 2026 — The American Heart Association has named Brian Christie, a managing director at FTI Consulting, and Alexander B. Roitman, a corporate partner at Seyfarth, as co-chairs of the Lawyers Have Heart 5K, set for Thursday, June 4, at Harpoon Brewery in the Boston Seaport.
The annual road race brings together runners, walkers and wheelchair racers—many from the legal community—to raise awareness about cardiovascular health and support the Association’s lifesaving mission. While rooted in the legal profession, the event is open to participants of all backgrounds.
Christie and Roitman are leading efforts to engage law firms, companies and community members across Greater Boston in fundraising and participation, with a focus on expanding access to CPR education and supporting research. As a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere, the American Heart Association is working to ensure more people are prepared to act in a cardiac emergency.
“Cardiac arrest can strike anyone at any time, and the outcome often comes down to whether someone nearby knows what to do,” Christie said. “Our industry is ripe for poor heart health, where warning signs are often overlooked. Lawyers Have Heart takes that challenge head on, bringing education, collaboration and a real sense of community to an issue that affects us all.”
The Lawyers Have Heart 5K is part of the American Heart Association’s broader effort to build a Nation of Lifesavers, with a goal of doubling survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by 2030. Nearly 9 in 10 people who experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital do not survive, and more than half do not receive bystander CPR.
“In our line of work, it’s easy to put health on the back burner,” said Roitman. “Lawyers Have Heart is a chance to step back, support an important cause and make a real impact, whether that’s through fundraising, education or simply showing up. The more people we can reach, the more prepared our communities will be.”
Through fundraising, community engagement and education, the Lawyers Have Heart campaign helps expand access to CPR training and supports research aimed at improving cardiovascular health.
Participants can register as individuals or teams, with many companies organizing employee groups as part of the event’s growing corporate engagement.
Following the race, participants gather for a post-run celebration at Harpoon Brewery, featuring food, drinks and opportunities to connect with colleagues and peers across industries.
