BOSTON, August 10, 2026 — The American Heart Association, a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere, has named Stacy Simpson, chief marketing officer at athenahealth and co-chair of the company’s research and thought leadership arm, athenaInstitute, as chair of the Boston Go Red for Women campaign. The initiative will bring together leaders from across the region to address cardiovascular disease — the leading cause of death among women.

As chair, Simpson will lead awareness and engagement efforts in support of research and community health initiatives that help women better understand and reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke. One part of community engagement includes fundraising through the campaign to help advance the Association’s work to improve women’s cardiovascular health in Greater Boston and beyond.

“Heart disease affects millions of women and families, yet too often the warning signs and risks go unrecognized,” said Simpson. “I’m honored to serve as chair of Go Red for Women in Boston, and I’m excited for athenahealth to begin this relationship because our missions are aligned in advancing women’s health, equitable care and better outcomes for all.”

Simpson brings more than 25 years of experience in technology and healthcare marketing to the volunteer leadership role. At athenahealth, she leads the company’s global brand, communications and marketing strategy and serves as co-chair of athenaInstitute, the company’s research and thought leadership initiative.

“Stacy knows how to unite people behind a shared mission, turning vision into meaningful impact,” said Allison Joyce, volunteer chair of the American Heart Association’s Boston Board of Directors. “Her leadership will help Go Red for Women expand its reach and deepen its impact across Greater Boston.”

For more than two decades, Go Red for Women has mobilized communities across the country to accelerate progress in women’s cardiovascular health. In Greater Boston, the campaign unites volunteers, corporate partners, healthcare leaders and advocates in support of a shared goal: helping more women live longer, healthier lives.

Additional details about the 2027 Boston Go Red for Women campaign and its community activities, including the annual Go Red for Women Luncheon, will be announced soon. To learn more, contact campaign director Emma Kenney at emma.kenney@heart.org.
