Bristol, TN, April 9, 2024 — Aniston Barnette has been named the American Heart Association Tri-Cities 2024 Teen of Impact winner, known locally as Queen of Hearts, for raising funds and awareness in the fight against heart disease and stroke to improve health and well-being in the local community.

Aniston was named this year’s winner after raising $65,000 during her campaign, a record for the Tri-Cities market. She was crowned the 2024 Queen of Hearts at a celebration gala Thursday, April 4, at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.

Over nine weeks, four teenagers from Bristol competed for the Queen of Hearts title by participating in community awareness and fundraising activities. Aniston, a junior at Tennessee High School, hosted both a fashion show and a pickleball tournament.

In the United States, cardiovascular disease remains the No. 1 cause of death. The Queen of Hearts initiative brings together Gen Z champions from across the Tri-Cities who are dedicated to changing this statistic.

“It is imperative that the next generation of lifesavers take control of their heart health and lead by example to ensure longer, healthier lives in every community” said Bev Miller, executive director of the Greater Knoxville/Tri-Cities American Heart Association. “Thanks to advocates like Aniston, the Tri-Cities’ future is looking brighter.”

"It's really important to me as a young person in my community to inspire others that they can change the narrative,” said Aniston. “You can reach out far and use your passions to make a difference in the world.”

In Bristol, four teens were nominated to participate in this year’s Queen of Hearts campaign. Collectively, the nominees raised $72,650 to support the American Heart Association’s vital work in the Tri-Cities.
