TEMPLE, Texas, Feb. 23, 2024 — Temple, Texas-based CEFCO convenience store is proud to support the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, through Life Is Why™, a cause marketing campaign benefitting the American Heart Association. Life Is Why inspires consumers to celebrate their reasons to live healthier, longer lives – by giving.
Through Feb. 29, CEFCO’s 190-plus locations will provide shoppers the opportunity to donate in a quick and easy way to support the mission of the American Heart Association. Shoppers can donate through the option to "round up" at the gas pump or while making a purchase inside. The company began its support of the organization in 2010 by supporting the Bell County Heart Ball and is committed through 2024.
“Seeing a company as big as CEFCO help raise money for the American Heart Association is huge because the company is reaching thousands of people a day and the difference that the money raised from this campaign is going to change lives,” said Courtney Greger of Temple, an American Heart Association volunteer whose daughter, Eva-Ann, was born with congenital heart defect, or CHD.
“Heart Disease doesn't care how old you are, what gender you are or what your background is. It affects everyone,” Greger added. “The money raised is going to make such an impact on heart disease research. Together, we can help find a cure for heart disease.”
Donations through the Life is Why campaign – no matter the amount – allow the Association to implement initiatives such as:
- Fund research that can improve the health outcomes of heart and stroke patients;
- Train more than 2.5 million high school students in CPR annually;
- Support the work of local entrepreneurs and organizations working to improve health outcomes in under-resourced communities.
For 100 years, the American Heart Association has saved and improved lives, pioneered scientific discovery and advocated for healthy public policies in communities across the country. These bold moves are fueled by our mission to be a relentless force for longer, healthier lives. They have helped transform our nation’s health and significantly reduce heart disease and stroke death rates. But these gains have not been shared equitably. Black, Hispanic, Native American, Native Hawaiian, Asian American, Pacific Islander and LGBTQ+ people have suffered and died disproportionately. So have people in historically underrepresented communities all over the country. With Bold Hearts™ and powered by science, we pledge to work relentlessly to eliminate heart disease and stroke, optimize brain health and ensure equitable health in every community.
