CLEVELAND - April 3, 2024 - Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in the Greater Cleveland area and George Sullivan, CEO of Equity Trust, is working hand-in-hand with the American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, to change that.

Sullivan will serve as chairperson for the 2024 Greater Cleveland Heart Walk and lead this community event focused on engaging local companies, corporations and their employees to join the fight against heart disease and stroke. He previously chaired the Heart Walk in 2021 and is eager to chair again during the American Heart Association’s milestone centennial year.

The 2024 Greater Cleveland Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, September 28 in the Flats East Bank.

As chair, Sullivan will lead a team of Greater Cleveland executives to recruit more than 100 companies and organizations to take part in Heart Walk. Through this event, the leadership team and supporting organizations will raise funds for the American Heart Association, while leading action-oriented conversations about employee health, corporate engagement, community health and community transformation.

“I am honored to chair the Greater Cleveland Heart Walk, as it embodies the essence of our shared mission to empower people to live fully and vibrantly in every aspect of their lives,” said Sullivan. “Just as Equity Trust has enabled financial wellness for the last 50 years, the American Heart Association has spent a century extending the gift of longer, healthier lives. This dual focus on personal well-being and community solidarity underscores the transformative impact that can be achieved when we come together for a common cause."

The 2024 Greater Cleveland Heart Walk is a way to get moving while socializing with friends, family and co-workers leading up to and on the day of the event. Walking in the Heart Walk boosts your heart health AND mental health while helping many others at the same time. The Heart Walk unites the community in celebrating health and honoring heart disease survivors.

“We are incredibly grateful for George and the Heart Walk executive committee leaders who are stepping up to move the needle when it comes to heart disease and stroke” said Shelley Webber, executive director, American Heart Association, Greater Cleveland. “Through the Heart Walk, we are able to drive maximum impact through employee engagement and corporate fundraising. Together, we can save lives right here in Cleveland.”

Heart disease and stroke are largely preventable. How you eat, move and manage stress impacts your well-being, physically and mentally. The funds raised at the walk supports the mission of the American Heart Association to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives while supporting priority issues in Greater Cleveland.
