PITTSBURGH, October 4, 2024 — The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthier lives for all, is pleased to announce that Lesley Mann, Chief Marketing Officer of GBU Life, will serve as the community volunteer chair for the 2024-2025 Greater Pittsburgh region’s Go Red for Women movement. This initiative by the American Heart Association aims to raise awareness about women’s heart health and drive positive changes to enhance the lives of women locally, nationally and globally.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Cardiovascular disease continues to be a woman’s greatest health threat, taking the life of one in three women.
“It is crucial that women in our community understand the risks and signs of heart disease and know the steps they can take to protect their heart health,” said Mann. “Seeing how the work of the American Heart Association affects the lives of people in our communities is what inspired me to chair the Go Red Movement this year, and I know we can expand our message of self-care and prevention to more women than ever this year.”
Mann is poised to revolutionize the campaign’s impact with her bold new vision. She aims to transform a segment of the Go Red for Women Experience into a community-centered event, ensuring that crucial heart health information reaches everyone.
“By meeting people where they are, Lesley is pioneering a more inclusive approach to the Go Red for Women campaign and event," said Leeanna McKibben, board chairperson for the American Heart Association Greater Pittsburgh. “Together, we know that we will have a positive impact on the lives of women in Greater Pittsburgh and the families that depend on them.”

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For 20 years, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
