CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 25, 2024 — On average, someone in the United States dies of cardiovascular disease (CVD), such as a heart attack or stroke, every 34 seconds.[1] An aging, more diverse population, along with a significant increase in heart disease and stroke risk factors among younger people are expected to nearly triple the nation’s price tag on cardiovascular disease (CVD) by 2050, according to new published projections.[2] The American Heart Association, celebrating 100 years of lifesaving service in 2024, is fighting to change that. Residents of Charlotte and the surrounding region are invited to join that work through the 2025 Greater Charlotte Heart Ball.

On February 1, the American Heart Association, devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, will host its 2025 Heart Ball, to reflect, honor and recognize progress toward advancing heart health. The event celebrates the Association’s year-round Heart of Charlotte effort to improve community health through the relentless pursuit of public policy change, equitable health for all and education and scientific discovery.

“This event honors the work we have done in Charlotte to get us one step closer to a world free of cardiovascular disease and stroke,” said Vicente Reynal, Heart Ball co-chair and chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ingersoll Rand, alongside co-chair Leon Topalian, chair, president and chief executive officer of Nucor. “We have worked tirelessly to advance equitable health, educate the community on blood pressure management, nutrition security and lifesaving CPR. There is always more work to be done, and all of us in Charlotte can have a role in this vital mission."

Reynal also serves on the American Heart Association’s National Board of Directors and the CEO Roundtable.

The 2025 Greater Charlotte Heart Ball is sponsored by:

  • Live Fierce. Life is Why sponsors: JELD-WEN, Novant Health and Nucor;
  • Live Fierce. Stand for All sponsor: Ingersoll Rand and many others.

Attendees will enjoy an evening of storytelling, dining, dancing and an exciting auction at the NASCAR Crown Ballroom— all while donating funds to advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere.

“On behalf of the American Heart Association, I extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and volunteers for their unwavering support and dedication," said American Heart Association Executive Director Kaitlyn Jarman. "Their contributions are vital in our fight to ensure everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, can lead a healthy life.”
