COLUMBIA, S.C. Jan. 10, 2025 — The American Heart Association, devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, is proud to announce a donation of CPR kits and a comprehensive Hands-Only CPR training session to Manning High School. This initiative, aimed at raising awareness about heart health and emergency preparedness, will allow students, teachers and staff to learn Hands-Only CPR and receive a CPR kit.
This donation results from support from Manning United Methodist Church, who participates in the American Heart Association’s Sumter Clarendon Heart Walk. Through educational programs like this one, the church is starting a legacy of promoting healthier lifestyles in the community.
This collaboration supports the Association’s mission to create a Nation of Lifesavers, ensuring that more people have CPR skills and knowledge to save lives during critical emergencies, particularly in schools where youth, staff, and visitors are often at risk. More than 60 teachers and staff at Manning High School received Hands-Only CPR training.
“CPR is a crucial skill that can make the difference between life and death in an emergency,” said Alfonso Franco, community impact director, American Heart Association. “By providing Manning High School with the training and tools they need, we are helping to ensure that these young people are ready to respond effectively in critical moments.”
The CPR kits, including manikins, instructional materials, and AED training, are designed to ensure that everyone participating in the session can practice and refine their skills.
Manning High School is enthusiastic to offer this life-saving training to its students and staff. “We are grateful to the American Heart Association and Manning United Methodist Church for this generous donation. Giving our students the tools and knowledge to perform CPR not only empowers them, but it also makes our school a safer place for everyone,” said Susan Bench, assistant principal.
