Minneapolis, MN - Aug. 27, 2024 - Cindy Grabowski, founder and chief pathfinder of Mind Grove, will serve as the executive volunteer chair of the 2024 Twin Cities STEM Goes Red event. STEM Goes Red is the American Heart Association’s initiative to empower high school students in grades 9-12 to consider STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related fields. Some of these students will become our next cardiologists, researchers, and scientists who can help end heart disease.
STEM Goes Red brings to life interesting and impactful careers in STEM and gives participating students access to leading employers, local experts and an insider look at what a career in STEM could entail.
“As someone who has had a long career in the medical device field, I was inspired to chair STEM Goes Red,” Grabowski, 2024 STEM Goes Red Chair. “I’m passionate about closing the gender gap in STEM careers and believe that our daily lives are built on a STEM foundation, from e-commerce technology to cosmetics chemistry. Through STEM Goes Red, high school students will explore STEM careers beyond the classroom, bridging equity gaps and inspiring the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians.”
The American Heart Association’s STEM Goes Red was launched in 2017 as part of the Go Red for Women® movement, which for more than 20 years has served as a catalyst for change, improving women’s lives by advancing equitable research and care, advocating for inclusive health policies and raising awareness of women’s No. 1 health threat—cardiovascular disease.
The Twin Cities STEM Goes Red event will be held on November 18, 2024. Event attendees will get to hear from a panel of industry leaders, network and participate in breakout sessions. For more information, please visit heart.org/MinnesotaSTEM, or contact Sara.Betru@heart.org.

About Go Red for Women®
The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For more than two decades, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters. For more information, please visit GoRedforWomen.org or call 1-800-AHA-USA1 (242-8721).
