“I am honored and excited to be leading this group of passionate and mission-focused staff, volunteers, and community leaders in our quest to improve the health of our community and ultimately keep hearts beating longer," said Mindy Hartwick, Executive Director of the American Heart Association in Toledo. “I’m looking forward to strengthening the collaborative efforts throughout Toledo as we work relentlessly to educate and help empower individuals to take charge of their overall health, ensuring more of the community is trained with the lifesaving skills of hands-only CPR, pushing for policy change and investing critical research dollars into our local institutions.”

A results-driven professional, Hartwick has demonstrated a proven ability to lead, motivate, and cultivate successful internal and external teams while overseeing projects from inception to fruition. With superior communication and interpersonal skills, she approaches her work with a positive, flexible attitude and a creative mindset.

Prior to returning to the American Heart Association, where she began her non-profit career as a Heart Walk Director, Hartwick held several key roles, including Campaign Development Manager at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Development Director at Healthier Moms and Babies, and Senior Manager of Community Development at the American Cancer Society.

During her tenure at these organizations, she spearheaded various initiatives aimed at fundraising, volunteer management, community engagement, and strategic planning, consistently achieving remarkable results and fostering enduring relationships with stakeholders. Her extensive experience and unwavering commitment make her exceptionally qualified to lead the American Heart Association's efforts in Toledo.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mindy to our team," said Katie Thom, Senior Vice President of the American Heart Association in the Midwest Region. "Her wealth of experience and passion for promoting heart health will undoubtedly propel our mission forward and make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families in Toledo."
