STARK COUNTY, Ohio April 22, 2024 – Rick Baxter, president of Alliance Area Development and Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce is chairing the American Heart Association’s 2024 Stark County Heart Walk, an annual event that draws more than five hundred community members and aims to raise $175,000 to fight heart disease and stroke. Baxter also chaired a successful 2023 Stark County Heart Walk.
“The health of our community is at the forefront of Alliance Area Development and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, and we are committed to the wellbeing of Stark County residents,” said Baxter. “Heart disease is still the number one killer of men and women, claiming nearly 1,000 lives a year in our community alone. Funds raised during the Heart Walk will advance education and research that will directly affect the health of Stark County residents”.
The Heart Walk is designed to create a stronger community among participants, instill a passion for reducing disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke and generate excitement for a new or renewed commitment to heart-healthy living through physical activity and healthy eating.
“We are excited that Rick Baxter will once again chair this year’s Stark Heart Walk, said Lisa Wheeler-Cooper, American Heart Association executive director, Northeast Ohio. “With Rick’s strong leadership, we will help motivate Stark County residents to take pivotal steps toward a healthier lifestyle.”
The 2024 Stark County Heart Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 at The Hall of Fame Village in Canton. The walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a Healthy for Good Festival, including health screenings, Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, a Kids Zone and more. The walk beings at 9:15 a.m. To register, donate or learn more about the Stark Heart Walk visit heart.org/starkheartwalk.
