BOSTON, October 11, 2024 — More than 61% of the U.S. population is projected to have some form of cardiovascular disease by 2050[1]. Research, advocacy and health promotions are needed to drive life-saving change. That is why the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, is driving Life is Why™, a cause marketing campaign that inspires consumers to celebrate their reasons to live healthier, longer lives – by giving. Retailers and product brands such as Reebok are stepping up to support the Association.
Through a multi-year promotion, Reebok, whose global headquarters are in Boston’s Seaport neighborhood, will provide shoppers the opportunity to donate in a quick and easy way to support the mission of the American Heart Association. For every pair of Walking Shoes sold from October 8, 2024, to December 31, 2026, Reebok will donate $1 of the purchase price to the American Heart Association’s Life is Why campaign, with a minimum donation commitment of $425,000 and a maximum amount of $700,000. In addition, Reebok will be highlighting the Association’s Life is Why campaign through its marketing channels in late 2025 and will highlight it on product packaging, on Reebok.com, and via other online retailers.
“Reebok’s support of the American Heart Association’s Life is Why campaign exemplifies the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change in heart and brain health,” said Thomas Lee, volunteer chairperson of the American Heart Association’s local Board of Directors in Greater Boston. “This will help fund critical research and enable us to reach more communities with life-saving initiatives. Together, we are making strides towards a healthier future for everyone.”
Reebok is also a supporter of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk campaign in Greater Boston. The company’s general manager of U.S. business, Scott Daley, is the volunteer chairperson of the 2024 Boston Heart Walk, scheduled for October 26 on Boston Common. The Heart Walk is a key part of the Association’s efforts to expand CPR training, empower people to act in a cardiac emergency, and fund life-saving research.
“We are honored and excited to be supporting the American Heart Association, an organization that not only helps save lives daily, but one that is seamlessly aligned with Reebok’s brand purpose to get people to move more and stay healthy,” said Daley. “Like so many of you, heart disease has impacted my life and the lives of my loved ones. On behalf of Reebok, I am incredibly proud that we can play a small role in heart health awareness, health equity, and groundbreaking research and innovation.”
Donations through the Life is Why campaign – no matter the amount – allow the Association to implement initiatives such as:
- Funding research that can improve the health outcomes of heart and stroke patients;
- Training more than 2.5 million high school students in CPR annually;
- Supporting the work of local entrepreneurs and organizations working to improve health outcomes in under-resourced communities.
