Philadelphia, December 16, 2024 –The Spring-Ford Intermediate 5/6 Center, part of the Spring-Ford School District in Montgomery County, has been honored as the No. 5 school in the nation for its outstanding participation in the American Heart Challenge (AHC). This remarkable achievement has resulted in a significant contribution of $21,429 to the American Heart Association (AHA), a global force for longer, healthier lives.
The Spring-Ford Intermediate 5/6 Center is the only middle school in the district participating in AHC, with three elementary schools from the district involved in the Kids Heart Challenge (KHC). This accolade highlights the school’s dedication to promoting heart health and fostering a spirit of community service among its students.
Special recognition goes to Jeff Moyer, health and physical education teacher, and a dedicated volunteer, who has been supporting the AHA for over 20 years, dating back to the program’s inception as Hoops for Hearts.
“Jeff’s unwavering commitment and passion for the cause have been instrumental in the school’s success,” said Mollie Bennett, development director, School Engagement, AHA. “His efforts are truly AHA-mazing!”
Last year marked the highest fundraising year for the Spring-Ford Intermediate 5/6 Center, contributing to a lifetime total of $267,885 raised for the AHA. This incredible milestone underscores the school’s ongoing commitment to creating a nation of lifesavers by teaching students the vital skill of Hands-Only CPR.
