TEMPLE, Texas, March 31, 2026 — Temple-based CEFCO convenience stores raised $133,000 for the American Heart Association through the company’s third year participating in the Life Is Why™ cause marketing campaign.
Funds were raised throughout February as customers rounded up their purchase totals at the gas pump or bought a balloon at checkout. The campaign took place at 148 CEFCO convenience store locations.
CEFCO officials presented a check to the American Heart Association Tuesday, March 31, at Fikes Wholesale Inc., 6261 Central Pointe Parkway in Temple.
“CEFCO believes in the power of community and invites our customers to join us in this noble cause,” said Jasmina M. Bakir, senior marketing manager for CEFCO. “This effort reflects our commitment to creating healthier lives by supporting lifesaving research and programs that impact families across the communities we serve.”
More than 6 in 10 U.S. adults — 61% — are expected to develop some form of cardiovascular disease within the next 30 years, according to research from the American Heart Association. Support from companies like CEFCO helps fund critical initiatives aimed at preventing heart disease and stroke and improving outcomes for those affected.
“CEFCO has long been a cornerstone in the communities it serves,” said Lyndie Miller, development director for the Waco-Bell County area for the American Heart Association. “Their continued commitment through the Life Is Why campaign demonstrates the impact businesses can make when they invest in the health and well-being of local families.”
Funds raised through Life Is Why help the American Heart Association:
- Advance cutting-edge research to improve prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke
- Train more than 2.5 million high school students in CPR each year
- Support community-based efforts to improve health equity and outcomes in under-resourced communities
CEFCO began supporting the American Heart Association in 2010 through the Bell County Heart Ball and remains committed to the organization’s mission through 2026.
