IRVINE, California, June 21, 2024 — Chad T. Lefteris, UCI Health President and CEO, is serving as the chairperson of the 2024 Orange County Heart and Stroke Ball. The annual gala celebrates progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support the American Heart Association's vision of advancing health and hope for everyone, everywhere.

Lefteris leads the only academic health system in Orange County, including the UCI Medical Center in Orange, four community network hospitals in Fountain Valley, Lakewood, Los Alamitos, and Placentia, and primary and specialty care locations throughout Orange County and parts of Riverside and Los Angeles counties.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the 2024 Orange County Heart and Stroke Ball,” Lefteris said. “For 100 years, the American Heart Association has been dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, funding lifesaving and life-prolonging research, and like UCI Health, focused on improving the health of our communities.”

Cardiovascular disease claims more lives than all cancers combined. It remains the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States, notably affecting women of color and those in under-resourced communities.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have to look far to find a familial connection to heart disease, in my case, it is something that several around my family have struggled with for decades,” Lefteris said. “As chairperson for the 2024 Heart and Stroke Ball, I hope to raise awareness across our communities about the important role we play, and the critical role of the AHA in that work.”

The 2024 Orange County Heart and Stroke Ball will be held on September 28, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point. This year, the gala will mark the American Heart Association’s 100th birthday and celebrate the association’s year-round efforts to drive health equity in Orange County. This year’s campaign is specifically focused on tackling uncontrolled blood pressure throughout our community to ensure more neighbors have the chance to live a full and healthy life.
