UPSTATE, S.C., Oct. 23, 2024 — The American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, announces the nominees for the 2024 Leaders of Impact in the Upstate. This campaign brings together a nationwide network of changemakers, who are passionate, competitive, well-connected and driven to make a difference around heart and brain health in the community.

Together, nominees embark on a seven-week competition, raising critical funds and awareness to create an impact in the community.  This year, the focus is on supporting local food pantries that have been severely impacted by Hurricane Helene, alongside the ongoing efforts to raise awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke prevention.

The nominees are:

  • Evan Carr, EC Media
  • William Bradley Lewis, George Coleman Ford
  • Sam Gilmer, PlaySafeUSA
  • Grace Myers, Amber Guy and Associates
  • Madison Potts, GreenLink Solutions

“Each of these leaders demonstrate exceptional commitment to uplifting our community, and their innovative approaches have made a lasting impact. By spotlighting these nominees, we hope to inspire others to contribute to both immediate hurricane relief efforts and long-term health initiatives,” says Kelly Wilkins, executive director, American Heart Association, Upstate.

On December 4, one nominee will be named the Upstate 2024 Leaders of Impact winner. In addition to the local community winners, one changemaker identified from across the country will also be named the National Leaders of Impact winner.

“Join us in recognizing the remarkable contributions of these leaders and supporting our campaign to bolster food security in the Upstate. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need,” says Wilkins.
