WASHINGTON, DC – July 1, 2022 -- The American Heart Association (AHA) Greater Washington Region is powered by volunteers who drive the mission of the organization across all communities. The AHA thanks members who have completed their board terms, has named a new president and chair-elect and welcomes four new members to its board of directors. Together they will serve as a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
The AHA thanks, Erich Sanchack, Chief Operating Office for Digital Realty, for his tireless service during his 6-year board term and long-time role as a volunteer leader. His efforts have helped to raise millions of dollars in support of the mission, including a record-breaking year for the Heart Walk in 2017 when he was chairman. He has also been involved with Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting & Auction and the Heart Ball. Sanchack will continue to be engaged in the Greater Washington Region and serve in other capacities.
A congratulations goes to Federico Asch, M.D. on completing his two-year term as president of the board. During his tenure, he helped to propel numerous advocacy wins around healthy kids meals in Maryland and was instrumental in the passing of historic legislation that ended the sale of flavored tobacco products in DC. Asch will continue to serve on the board.
“It is an honor to work alongside people who have demonstrated such dedication to the AHA’s mission and have advanced so many priorities that will save and improve lives for generations to come,” said Owen Billman, chairman of the Greater Washington Region Board of Directors and president of Blake Real Estate. “We will truly miss Erich as part of our Greater Washington Region board but look forward to all that he will accomplish as he continues to lead through volunteerism throughout the organization!
