Freelance Science Writers’ Travel Stipend Opportunity

U.S. freelance writers who qualify for embargoed access to the American Heart Association’s news material may apply for a limited number of travel stipends to attend one of four (4) select Association scientific conferences.

In the field below, please tell the American Heart Association why you should be selected for a travel stipend. You must include specifics around your area of journalistic focus, along with any other information you wish to share with the selection team.*

Applicant must provide three (3) original bylined news articles/clip links (not article summaries) published by an accredited national or top 25 Neilsen market media outlet within the prior six (6) months covering health/science/medical topics. If unforeseen circumstances prevent the applicant from attending the meeting for which applicant is selected to receive a stipend, the applicant and the Association may select another meeting for the applicant to attend, or the funds must be returned within 30 days.* The selection decisions of the Association are final.
